WHAT YOU SAY

 MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

Howard Gardners theory of Multiple Intelligences represents a breakthrough in our understanding of how we learn.  In his training sessions, John Fewings demonstrates how MI theory provides the framework for developing personalised learning.

An INTRODUCTION to MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

The aim of this session is to introduce Howard Gardners theory of Multiple Intelligences; to investigate the characteristics of each of the intelligences, and to explore the relevance of the theory to teachers and trainers.

  • What do we mean by "intelligent"?

  • The basis of Howard Gardner's theory.

  • 8 types of intelligence and how to recognise them all.

  • The benefits to students of applying the Multiple Intelligences model.

  • Implications for the teacher / trainer.

DIGGING DEEPER INTO MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

This session assumes a general understanding of Howard Gardner's theory and consider the implications for UK schools of adopting it.

  • Measuring intelligence - from IQ to MIQ - Is it possible? ...feasible? ...desirable?

  • The implications for the curriculum.

  • Redefining the "more able" - Is there room for G&T in MI ?

  • What shall we tell the children? - and what difference will it make?

  • Using MI to personalise learning.

  • The classroom of the future - Will there be classrooms in the future?

The precise content of the Digging Deeper session can be tailored to suit the specific needs or interest of the school or organisation.

It is recommended that each of these is a full day training session.
