A knight moves two
squares (up, down, left, or right) then turns a 90-degree corner and moves
one more square. All the possible knight moves are shown in the
diagram above.. |
This is a game for 2, 3 or 4 players.
The game is played on a chessboard and each player needs
a chess knight piece.
Before the game, ensure that all players know how a chess
knight moves. (See side-panels.)
At the start of the game, each player places their knight
on one of the corner squares. A counter or button (or better still, a small
sweet) is placed on each of the remaining squares on the board.
Players take turns to move their knights. If they can
land on a square that contains a counter / button / sweet they capture it.
Play continues until all counters have been captured.
The player with the most counters wins.
VARIATION 1
Players who land on a square containing a counter -
capture the counter - and then have another turn - until they land on a
square with no counter on it. Play then passes to the next player.
(Younger players should start as this variation favours the player who goes
first.)
VARIATION 2
If younger players are playing against more experienced
players, the younger players could be allowed 2 goes to each one taken by
the more experienced player.
