ALL THE SEASONS
Jack & Maggie S
Spring
A mother eagle warms its eggs when one starts to wobble
Suddenly they all burst out and the mother gets a surprise
The sheep and cows lay in the barn and give birth to lambs and calves
As butterflies fly very high the birds soar through the sky
All of the animals come out of hibernation and slowly eat all the nuts
Summer
Tomato sauce around children’s mouths
Warm sausages in crusty bread make the mouth water
Cool down in the swimming pool
Having fun and doing lengths
Your Mum covers you in sun-cream as the sun warms your back
That’s the perfect Summer
Autumn
The wind howls, the leaves dance
As they flutter and whirl to the ground
The old trees creak and groan as the leaves dance around
Halloween spooky, strange, very scary
Your sister’s a witch, your brother’s a werewolf
You’re a demon from outer space
With long scary fangs
Boom! Crash! Wizz! Bang!
Don’t get in the way
There are pretty colours in the sky
That’s bonfire night
Winter
All the animals start to hibernate and get ready for snow
The children go out to play on a really snowy day
Making snowmen and having snowball fights
Then we all huggle up next to the winter fire
Jess joining us on the rug
There is also Christmas when you get loads of presents
They all sit on the seats
Whilst eating chocolate treats
Hang up the stockings and go to bed
And in the morning you will get a surprise.

As magical as Atlantis
With all its magical glory
As brutal as the great white shark
Covered in blood and gory
DOG
Vanessa
Running, running, running for its precious life
Always getting in trouble with the Reverend’s wife
Always eating his plants because they taste so nice
PARENTS
Charlotte
Both as caring as lions guarding their cubs
As gentle as a spider crawling up my back
Loving as a chimpanzee holding onto its baby
Worrying as a meerkat looking for its enemies
You’re as generous as my teacher giving out stickers
RATS
The little devils of the night
That scamper under the floorboards
The murderers of my sofa
With its innards on the floor
I have to wear my long pyjamas
So they do not bite me
I hate rats!

UNDER THE SEA
Megan & Megan
In the sea the octopus guards its territory in the cave
The fishes’ scales are as shiny as pearls
And the dolphins are as blue as the sky
The sea weed sways like the trees
And the mermaids swim so elegantly
While lobsters search for food among the long sea weed
FISH TANK
Jack
As stripy as a zebra or camouflaged green
Bubbles like circles of transparent air to keep the tank clean
Some long as a snake, some round as a ball
Some really large, some really small
A habitat as watery as the deep dark ocean
A cup-shaped hole like a cosy bed
Fish food speckled and splashed with rainbow colours
SCARY FAIRY
Jack
As smelly as a fish-tank full of stale food
As dainty as a frog leaping across a pond
As happy as Mickey Mouse when Goofy makes him laugh
As sparkly as a disco ball spinning in the lights
That’s the scary fairy
KITTENS
Billy
Kittens can be crazy
Kittens can be funny
Kittens can be lazy
I like kittens
Kittens can be cheeky
Kittens can be jolly
Kittens can be tiny
I like kittens
Kittens can be playful
Kittens can be unusual
Kittens can be stupid
Kittens of mine
PETS
My cat Binka is a little tinker
My fish Tom swims with bathbombs
My rabbit Molly has a little dolly
My monkey Tess is such a mess
My puppy Lucky is so mucky
My donkey Zonkey is a little wonky
My dolphin Doreen has a friend called Maureen
My mouse Louse has a little house
And they’re all so cute

As happy as a horse eating rich green grass
As light as a feather falling through the sky
As gentle as a cat sleeping on a blanket
As elegant as an angel dancing through the clouds
That’s the glitter fairy

Elegant as a ballet dancer wearing satin shoes
Shining like a star in the dark night sky
Happy as a chipmunk whn it’s running free
Small as a mouse hiding in a hole
Brown as a brunette when she’s just washed her hair
Gentle as a feather falling from the sky
