Lee keeps his socks in the top drawer of a chest of drawers. Unfortunately, they are a bit jumbled up. (Lee doesn't bother to put them into pairs before he puts them in the drawer.) He has 10 grey socks, 8 blue socks and 6 white socks. He needs to get a pair of socks but dare not turn the light on in case his big brother wakes up. If Lee cannot see the colour of the socks because it is too dark, how many socks must he take out of the drawer to be absolutely sure that he has got a pair?
