| RIVER CROSSING | |||||
|
This is a traditional puzzle that you may encounter in various forms.
A farmer is travelling to market with a fox (don't ask!), a chicken and a sack of corn - when he comes to a river. He must cross the river to get to the market. Luckily, there is a boat there - but it is only big enough for the farmer and ONE of the items he has with him.
Oh dear! The farmer cannot leave the fox with the chicken because the fox will eat the chicken. He cannot leave the chicken with the corn because the chicken will eat the corn. How can he get all three items across the river?
(Amazingly, the farmer can leave the fox and the chicken - not together of course - without any fear that either will run away.)
