Lee, Chris and Pat were playing marbles. At the start of their game, Lee had 14 marbles, Chris had 24 marbles and Pat had 34 marbles.
After they had been playing for a while, they stopped to count how many they now had. Lee had 46 marbles, Chris had 14 marbles and Pat had 12 marbles. Pat was a bit disappointed to have lost so many but was sure things would change as they carried on playing.
Just as they were about to start playing again, Pat's Mum said that Pat could not play out any longer as she needed to go shopping. Sadly, Pat had to go.
Just then, old Mr Lambert from the corner house called them across. "I've seen you playing," he said, "So I had a look in my garden shed and found these." He handed across a large tin that was almost overflowing with marbles. "I don't suppose I'll be playing marbles any more - not with my knees - so you can share these out amongst yourselves. Make sure you share them fairly!"
Lee and Chris thanked Mr Lambert then went off to count how many marbles were in the tin. "Wow!" exclaimed Lee, "71 marbles! That's as many as we had to start with!"
What is the fairest way to share the marbles?
