EQUIPMENT

Prepared set of "Inkspots".

DESCRIPTION

This activity can be conducted as a whole class activity though it is best if students work in small groups

The teacher shows the class a prepared "Inkspot" (a random amoeba-like blob of colour).

Groups discuss what they think the "Inkspot" looks like.  Crazy and diverse ideas should be welcomed.  Each group selects its best 3 (or 4) suggestions.

Group suggestions could be shared with the class

OR

Groups are encouraged to construct a sentence containing all of their suggestions.

BEFORE

None

AFTER

Students could prepare their own "Inkspots" - starting from a picture of an object and blurring the outline by over-painting.
