EQUIPMENT
Chalkboard OR wipeboard OR flipchart OR IWB.
Pencil and paper for each team.
Erasers (optional).
|
Although students can work individually at this
activity, it is most useful when students are organised into teams of
3 or 4.
The teacher writes a word vertically down
the left hand side of the board (if possible, avoiding words containing the
letters Q, X, Z).
Student-teams are challenged to write a
sentence in which each word begins with the letters of the given word.

Successful teams are encouraged to share their
ideas. There could be a reward for the team with the silliest suggestion.
(If the aim of the exercise is to learn a difficult spelling, this could
then be rehearsed by the whole class.)
